We all know by now how utterly amazing the Internet is, especially Web 2.0 and the Social Media Galaxy. Because of its awesome power we sometimes lose sight of the fact that there is still a brick and mortar world out there that deserves our attention and can enrich our lives. If your business – be it small, medium, or large – engages in digital marketing in any way it’s easy to privilege the online world over the “real” world. If you only engage in e-commerce, this message isn’t for you.
If you still depend on getting customers through your actual door, you can’t afford to ignore the need for hyper-local target marketing. Otherwise, that 10 year storefront lease is just money down the drain, right? Provide incentives for your customers to get off their butts and into your store with in-store only promotions and discounts. Make it easy; embed a Google map on your website and all social media platforms. List your phone number, not just your e-mail, so people can actually call and speak with another actual person. If you read last Friday’s post you know I advocate for face time. Because even in this Web-centric World, the human touch still gets the job done better than anything else.
